Food Distribution
Nearly a quarter (24.4%) of the people in our community live below the poverty level, which is double the national rate of 12.3 percent. This means there are many families that do not know when or where they will get their next meal. The Dream Center addresses this need by distributing approximately 900,000 pounds of food each year to more than 12,000 families. Our foodbank is set up as a boutique grocery store, where qualified individuals and families can shop for their own groceries.

Dream Center Academy
The Dream Center Academy (DCA) is an after school program that assists at-risk and Title 1 youth through individualized tutoring and mentoring three days a week. The students are in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades and are identified by the local school systems to receive services provided by the DCA. Participating students are transported from school in the afternoons by the Shoals Dream Center where they receive in-house resources. DCA programming is unique in that it incorporates activities that emphasize the importance of each individual student, social and emotional development, certified teachers and education majors focusing on specific subject areas, and a healthy meal. The DCA has seen students who were failing classes end their semesters on the A/B Honor Roll.

Thrift Stores
The Shoals Dream Center exists to make an impact throughout Northwest Alabama by being a hub of practical help and life-giving hope to families.
