Story
What began as one community member’s simple act of kindness has grown into a thriving mission of service and love. Today, the Shoals Dream Center is a reflection of that giving heart—reaching more people, meeting more needs, and bringing hope to our community every day.
The mission of the Shoals Dream Center is to provide help for today and hope for tomorrow through food distribution, education, and social rehabilitation in the Shoals community.
Historically known as Loaves and Fishes, the Shoals Dream Center established itself as a separate nonprofit organization in 2021 to serve Lauderdale and Colbert counties of Northwest Alabama. Services provided by the Dream Center allow individuals and families to meet with licensed social workers to identify the resources that are best suited to assist with the individual’s needs. In 2024, there were over 13,000 appointments scheduled with over 21,000 people served. Total, the Dream Center distributed approximately 900,000 pounds of food throughout the year and saw an increase of A/B Honor Roll students through the Dream Center Academy.
